The Barefoot Masseuse Bodywork, Glass Art, and Sundries

 Meet Your LMT

Hello!  My name is Cat DeMira, Licensed Massage Therapist, glassblower, and your very own barefoot masseuse!  I'd like to congratulate you for taking command of your well-being, and thank you for considering me in your search for a partner in achieving your wellness goals.

After briefly aspiring to be a CSI, I decided to become a massage therapist when I realized that a career in criminalistics would be steeped in the energies of pain, loss, and death.  Seeking something more proactive and life-affirming, I was trained in massage therapy at Ashmead College (now Everest) in Tigard, OR, under a curriculum of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, massage theory, hands-on, and professional skills -- more than 300 hours more than the state of Oregon requires for licensure.  I have been licensed and practicing since 2005 and am an Active Professional member of the American Massage Therapy Association.

My bodywork services at this time consist primarily of Swedish (relaxation) and Deep Tissue massage, although I am trained in, and use, the basics of several other modalities, including trigger point work and myofascial release.  I can also provide recommendations for hydrotherapy, stretching, and basic exercises as adjuncts to massage in order to alleviate symptoms caused by stress, postural distortion, and minor injuries.

I believe that massage is a powerful tool for well-being that belongs in doctors' offices, chiropractic clinics, health clubs, and homes as well as spas.  I believe that, in today's fast-paced, high-stress culture, relaxation is NOT a luxury -- but massage contributes to health on so many more levels than relaxation alone.  I am committed to making a difference in the lives of my clients and to being part of the shift away from symptom repression and toward holistic, responsible health care.

When I'm not in my office or in the hotshop blowing glass, I enjoy the beach, yoga, sci-fi and fantasy TV, the art of Josephine Wall, introspection, and rainy days.  I am a voracious reader, Renaissance Woman, and joy junkie who would love to be chosen to add relaxation and health to your experience and beauty to your home!  Please feel free to contact me by e-mail or phone with any questions you may have.  I look forward to hearing from and working with you.
